What Are the Best Dentures in the UK? Types and Costs Explained

If you’re thinking about getting dentures, you’ve probably got a few questions. What are the different options for dentures? How much do they cost? And how do you know which dentures are the best?

In this guide, we’ll break it all down — from denture types and costs in the UK, to tips on choosing what’s right for you.

What types of dentures can you get in the UK?

There are a few different types of dentures, and the right one for you will depend on things like how many teeth you’re replacing, how much you want to spend, and what looks and feels the best for you.

So, what are the main types of dentures?

1. Full (or Complete) dentures

Best for: Replacing all your teeth on the top or bottom – full dentures are what most people think of when they hear “dentures.” They’re made to fit your mouth and can be taken out.

Cost: Usually from £1295 (upper and lower).

2. Partial dentures

Best for: Filling gaps when you still have some natural teeth. Partial dentures clip onto your existing natural teeth and are a great way to fill in a few missing spaces.

Cost: From £595 (acrylic), £995 (chrome), from £795 (Flexible Dentures).

3. Implant-supported dentures

Best for: A strong and long-lasting fit. Also called ‘dental implants’, these dentures fit into implants in your jawbone, so they’ll stay in place better than most other denture types.

Cost: From around £750 and up (depending on how many implants you need).

4. Suction dentures

Best for: A secure and comfortable fit, without implants. Suction dentures use a vacuum between the denture and your gums to stay in place. They can be a great option if dental implants aren’t suitable for you.

Cost: £1,999 (upper or lower), £3,600 (upper and lower).

5. Same day dentures

Best for: Quick replacements or immediate dentures after tooth extractions. If you don’t want to wait for your gums to heal after having teeth removed, our same-day denture service means you can walk out with a full smile on the same day.

Cost: On request

Note: as your jawbone shrinks over time – known as bone resorption – your dentures can become loose. If this happens, a reline will help restore the perfect fit.

We also offer 24-hour replacements for lost or broken dentures (if a denture repair isn’t possible).

Which dentures are ‘the best’?

When people ask about the best denture type, the truth is, it really depends on you!

Nearly 1 in 5 people wear dentures, and everyone is different, so the “best” dentures will be the ones that:

  • Feel comfortable in your mouth
  • Look natural and help you smile confidently
  • Let you eat and talk without worrying
  • Last a long time
  • Fit your budget

At First Class Dentures, we’ll help you figure all this out based on your needs and what you’re looking for, so you’ll get the perfect dentures every time.

How do you choose the right dentures?

When it’s time to choose a denture type, think about the following:

  • Do you need to replace all of your teeth or just some?
  • Do you want something long-lasting, like implants?
  • Is comfort more important, or is budget the priority?
  • Do you want your dentures to look as close to real teeth as possible?

If you’re still not sure, don’t worry! As part of the denture process, we’ll talk you through the different options and help you make the right choice, with no pressure.
